My name is Alex, and I'm thrilled to introduce myself and welcome you to Jungle Guides International and our exciting team of professionals who make up the International Association of Jungle Guides. As the founder of this initiative, my passion has always revolved around promoting excellence, safety, and professionalism in wilderness guiding, with a particular focus on jungle and tropical environments.
Our association was established to fill a unique niche, offering specialized training, certification, and advocacy specifically tailored to the rigorous demands of jungle and tropical regions. We strive not only to uplift existing industry standards—but also to create them where currently none exist in many jungle regions. Additionally, we work closely with Indigenous communities, recognizing and incorporating their extensive traditional knowledge and invaluable expertise into our certification programs.
Like many professionals working in the jungle adventure leadership sector, I've spent decades collaborating with, listening to, and working alongside the amazing communities whose support makes our adventures possible. We've listened carefully to their needs, and this initiative is a direct result. Alongside our directors and training partners, other select professionals and local experts, we are now ready to implement our collaborative vision to build a lasting, sustainable, and successful sector where everyone can thrive.

Running an association is time consuming and costs money. Membership fees directly support the creation and provision of educational resources, advocacy, research, member events, professional development, and operational administration. They also go towards referral fees for supporting partners, and towards subsidizing students course fees that otherwise could not have access to our training and certification.

While we don’t provide direct insurance coverage, we offer guidance, industry-standard resources, and recommended practices for managing liability and risk in outdoor and wilderness settings. Contact us for help and resources on managing risk or alternatively, check out training offered by our training partners and certified instructors.
