This course is delivered in a pristine section of the Amazon rainforest, where participants learn practical survival techniques, including water sourcing, shelter building, firecraft, and food procurement, combined with traditional Indigenous knowledge. After comprehensive training, you will apply your skills independently in a controlled isolation exercise within the jungle, testing your ability to live self-reliantly in a natural environment.

Phase One: Training
We will only plunge you into survival mode if we prepare you adequately for your jungle adventure. In the initial one-week survival training phase, we’ll equip you with the wilderness skills to locate water, construct shelter, ignite a fire without matches, and procure food. After setting up your hammock camp, we’ll help you get comfortable consuming various unique and intriguing bugs. Then, we’ll teach you the essentials: piranha fishing, wild game hunting with a bow and arrow, fire lighting, and water vine recognition. By the end of the first week, you’ll be prepared with the skills necessary to survive in the jungle – are you ready to face the challenge?
Phase Two: Isolation
Once you are ready, you’ll embark on a solo journey (or with a partner, if preferred). We’ll leave you in a fresh part of the jungle to fend for yourself. Armed with a sharp machete, a bow and arrow, and a trusty belt kit, you’ll test your survival skills in an adrenaline-fueled real-world scenario. Relying on your wits and survival instinct without the aid of a torch or a match, are you up for the challenge?

Arriving in Guyana - We gather at a hotel in Georgetown, the capital, for introductions and any lingering questions before venturing into the interior. No meals were provided. Shared room accommodation.
Departure to the interior - In the morning, we proceed to Ogle airport for check-in and flight in a small propeller plane. The journey offers a breathtaking view of Guyana’s vast rainforest coverage. We land in the quaint village of Surama, from where we head to a nearby Eco lodge for introductions, lunch, and gear distribution. The night concludes with relaxation and stunning rainforest views. Lunch and dinner included. Shared room accommodation.
Rock Landing - We leave the Ecolodge early in the morning and make our way to our first base with simple structures and facilities for initial forest exposure. We cover survival basics like fire-making, acquiring clean drinking water, setting up hammocks, using machetes, bows, arrows, and fishing. Theoretical topics like survival psychology, jungle dangers, hazards, and wildlife recognition are also covered. All meals included. Hammock sleeping arrangement.
Expedition phase - Post training, we move further into the forest, create our camp, and contribute to camp life – from building bush latrines to ensuring water and firewood supply. We also cover advanced survival techniques like shelter construction, navigation, and advanced fishing theory. All meals included. Hammock sleeping arrangement.
Isolation phase - Participants are taken to their isolation spot with a select set of tools, such as a machete, bow and arrow, water bottle, fire kit, and fishing kit. The challenge here is to create a sustainable living environment and survive until extraction. Getting out alive - A rescue team will arrive during the day to extract you! The team then returns to the lodge for a celebration dinner marking our collective achievements. Lunch and dinner included. Shared room accommodation.
Return to the capitol - The next day. We journey back to Georgetown for a final night in town. No meals included. Shared room accommodation.
Continuing travel or departure - On the final day, we bid each other farewell as participants head home or to their next destination. No meals included. No accommodation is provided.

Certification Gained: Upon successful completion of this course, candidates are issued a Certificate of Completion endorsed by the International Association of Jungle Guides. Certified Jungle Guides will gain their Survival Specialization endorsement.

Jungle Guides International – Terms and Conditions (Revised January 2026)
These Terms and Conditions govern participation in any course or expedition offered by Jungle Guides International (JGI), including activities operated in partnership with local operators, in this case, The Wild Tales Inc. (WT). By registering for a JGI program, you acknowledge and agree to the terms outlined below.
1. Jurisdiction and Legal Framework
Jungle Guides International is a Canadian organization. All agreements, disputes, or claims related to JGI services are governed by the laws of the Province of Nova Scotia, Canada, and applicable Canadian federal law.
Local Operations: For expeditions operated by partners such as Wild Tales Inc., participants agree to comply with local laws, regulations, and guidance (e.g., Guyana). Any disputes arising from partner-operated programs may be subject to the jurisdiction of local courts.
2. International Association of Jungle Guides (IAJG) – Global Protection
IAJG-certified guides operate as independent professionals within the JGI network. These Terms provide a framework for mutual respect, risk awareness, and fair conduct, ensuring appropriate protection for all guides operating under the IAJG framework worldwide.
3. Participant Responsibility
Participants agree to the following conditions before joining any JGI course or expedition:
Travel Insurance
Participants must purchase and maintain valid travel and medical insurance that includes emergency evacuation, medical expenses, accident coverage, trip cancellation/interruption, and repatriation.
Minimum recommended coverage:
Emergency Medical Evacuation: USD $100,000
Medical Expenses: USD $50,000
Repatriation: USD $50,000
Trip Cancellation/Interruption: At least the total trip cost
Proof of coverage may be requested before departure.
Travel Documentation
Participants are solely responsible for obtaining all necessary travel documents, including passports (minimum 6 months validity), visas, vaccination records, and permissions to enter Panama, Guyana, or any other destination.
Yellow fever vaccination is mandatory for entry to Guyana, and proof may be requested.
Emergency Contact Information
Participants must provide emergency contact details prior to departure.
Liability Waiver
All participants must sign a Release of Liability, Waiver of Claims, Assumption of Risk, and Indemnity Agreement prior to travel. Failure to do so may result in removal from the program without refund.
4. Health and Physical Fitness
Participants must disclose all medical conditions or limitations that may affect safe participation.
A medical questionnaire must be submitted at least 30 days prior to the trip. Updates or changes (recent injury, illness, medications) must be reported in writing before departure.
JGI reserves the right to request confirmation from a healthcare professional or GP if needed.
Participants are responsible for bringing necessary medication, including malaria prophylaxis if applicable.
Participants must be physically fit for the trip level. JGI instructors may refuse participation if deemed unsafe.
Participants must be at least 18 years old unless accompanied by a parent or legal guardian, who assumes full responsibility.
5. Cancellations, Transfers, and Refunds
Payment & Deposit
A non-refundable deposit of 50% is required to secure a booking.
Full payment must be received 60 days prior to the program start date.
Cancellation Policy
More than 90 days before start: Full refund minus deposit.
60–90 days before start: 50% of total price refunded, excluding deposit.
Less than 60 days before start: No refund.
Transfers
Deposits may be transferred to a different trip/date if requested more than 90 days before departure.
Late Payments
Failure to pay in full by the deadline may result in cancellation. The deposit is forfeited, and a $100 USD late payment fee may apply.
JGI Modifications or Cancellations
JGI or partners may cancel or modify a program due to safety, weather, political instability, insufficient participants, or other unforeseen events.
Participants may receive a full or partial refund or an alternative date/program.
JGI is not responsible for non-refundable travel expenses incurred by the participant.
6. Assumption of Risk
Participants understand that jungle expeditions carry inherent risks, including but not limited to:
Injury, illness, or death in remote locations with limited medical care
Environmental hazards, wildlife encounters, rivers, cliffs, or rugged terrain
Slips, falls, extreme weather, physical exertion, or dehydration
Delays, cancellations, or disruptions due to weather, political, or logistical factors
Travel risks by foot, boat, vehicle, or air
Cultural misunderstandings or variable health and safety standards
Participation is voluntary, and participants assume full responsibility for all associated risks.
7. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, JGI and its partners’ total liability is limited to the amount paid for the program.
Participants are responsible for personal belongings and any damage to equipment. JGI and partners are not responsible for loss, theft, or damage.
JGI is not responsible for costs incurred due to flight delays, missed meeting points, or force majeure events.
8. Force Majeure and Political Risk
JGI and partners may modify itineraries or postpone/cancel programs due to natural disasters, political instability, border closures, travel restrictions, airspace issues, or other unforeseen events.
Participants are responsible for insurance covering trip interruption or geopolitical events.
9. Respectful Conduct
Participants must act respectfully toward guides, communities, and other participants.
Alcohol and recreational drug use is prohibited unless explicitly authorized.
Unsafe, disrespectful, or criminal behavior may result in removal from the program without refund, and participants will bear any costs incurred.
10. Intellectual Property
All materials, methodologies, skills, techniques, expedition structures, course outlines, and operational knowledge are property of JGI or partners.
Participation does not grant rights to replicate, reproduce, or teach any portion of the content without explicit prior written permission.
11. Photography and Media
Participants consent to photography, video, and audio during programs for promotional, commercial, or educational use unless written notice of opt-out is provided.
12. Data Privacy
Personal and medical information is stored securely, accessed only by authorized personnel, and retained for a maximum of three years unless required otherwise.

13. Agreement by Payment
By making payment for any JGI course, expedition, or training, participants confirm that they have read, understood, and voluntarily agreed to these Terms. This agreement is binding and enforceable without signature.

IMPORTANT NOTICE: By submitting payment for participation in any Jungle Guides International course, expedition, or training, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agreed to the terms and conditions outlined below. This agreement affects your legal rights. Please read carefully.
1. Assumption of Risk
I understand that participating in wilderness-based training, expeditions, or travel programs with Jungle Guides International (JGI) involves inherent risks and hazards. These include, but are not limited to:
Illness or injury in remote locations with limited access to medical care
Interaction with wildlife, insects, or plants
Slips, falls, or injuries from rugged terrain, rivers, cliffs, or natural disasters
Exposure to extreme weather, physical exertion, dehydration, or environmental challenges
Delays, cancellations, or disruptions due to weather, political, or logistical factors
Risks during travel by foot, boat, vehicle, or air
Cultural misunderstandings or variable health and safety standards
I freely accept and fully assume all such risks, including the possibility of personal injury, illness, death, or loss of property.
2. Waiver of Claims and Release of Liability
By participating, I waive any and all claims I may now or in the future have against Jungle Guides International and all affiliated parties, including but not limited to:
Directors, employees, contractors, volunteers, agents, and training partners
IAJG-certified guides operating globally
Heirs, successors, and assigns
This includes claims for negligence, breach of contract, or breach of any legal duty of care, and applies to any loss, injury, or damage sustained in connection with my participation.
3. Indemnity
I agree to indemnify and hold harmless JGI and its affiliates from any and all third-party claims, liabilities, or expenses resulting from:
My participation in any JGI program
My conduct during the course or expedition
Any inaccurate medical or travel documentation provided by me
4. Medical Fitness and Insurance
I confirm that I am medically and physically fit to participate. I understand that:
I am solely responsible for ensuring I am healthy and adequately prepared
I must secure personal travel insurance, including coverage for injury, illness, emergency evacuation, and trip cancellation
I am responsible for all costs related to medical care, evacuation, or repatriation
5. Legal Compliance and Cultural Respect
I agree to abide by all local laws and respect Indigenous communities, wildlife, and the guidance of certified expedition leaders. I understand that disrespectful or unsafe behavior may result in removal from the program without refund.
6. Photography and Media (Optional)
Unless I notify JGI in writing, I grant permission for any photographs, videos, or written feedback collected during my participation to be used by Jungle Guides International for educational or promotional purposes without compensation.
7. Governing Law
This agreement is governed by the laws of the Province of Nova Scotia, Canada, and the applicable laws of Canada. Any disputes will fall under the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Nova Scotia. This waiver applies internationally to all participants and is intended to protect JGI and IAJG-certified guides wherever they operate.
8. Agreement by Payment
By making payment to Jungle Guides International for any course, expedition, or training, I confirm that I have read, understood, and voluntarily agreed to the above terms.
