About JGI

Jungle Guides International (JGI) is the world’s first organization dedicated entirely to professional training and certification for jungle environments.

We are the founders of the International Jungle Guides Association (IJGA) — a global standard that recognizes the skills, knowledge, and leadership required to guide safely and responsibly in tropical forests and remote wilderness areas.

Whether you're a working guide, an adventure traveler, a researcher, or someone preparing for your first jungle expedition, our programs are built to help you lead, explore, and stay safe in the world’s most challenging ecosystems.

Our Mission

To equip guides, explorers, and local communities with the skills and confidence to operate safely and professionally in jungle environments — while supporting conservation, cultural knowledge, and sustainable tourism.

Built For Impact

The only certification authority focused exclusively on jungle guiding

  1. Deep respect for traditional knowledge and local leadership

  2. Committed to conservation and access through our Forest Guardians and First Aid initiatives

  3. Designed for learners and operators across Latin America and the global tropics

What We Do

  • We offer internationally recognized certification for jungle and rainforest guides, expedition leaders, and adventurous individuals. Our courses focus on tropical-specific navigation, group leadership, risk management, and environmental responsibility.

  • JGI provides wilderness medical training designed for real-world jungle conditions. Our programs teach how to recognize and manage tropical illness, insect bites, and emergencies with limited resources and delayed evacuation. Certifications include Jungle First Aid and Advanced Jungle First Aid, aligned with global best practices.

  • This program provides free or subsidized training and certification to promising Indigenous and local guides across the tropics. Funded through partnerships, donations, and proceeds from training and certification, the initiative strengthens conservation and builds professional opportunities within rainforest communities.

  • In addition to online learning, we lead real-world training expeditions and field-based courses in jungle regions. These immersive experiences help participants build hands-on skills in remote navigation, survival, first aid, and team leadership — guided by expert instructors and local knowledge holders.

Why It Matters

Jungle environments require a specialized set of skills that go beyond typical outdoor or mountain training. Dense terrain, tropical disease, heat, humidity, isolation — all demand careful preparation and confident leadership.

Yet, until now, there was no global certification built specifically for jungle terrain. That’s why we created JGI and the International Jungle Guides Association (IJGA) — to set the standard and support those who live, work, and explore in the rainforest.

Who Our Programs Are For

  • Local and Indigenous guides

  • Ecotourism and adventure operators

  • Researchers and film crews

  • Aspiring professionals and outdoor educators

  • Adventurous people looking to learn and explore responsibly

You don’t need to be a career guide to benefit from our training. If you care about safety, skill, and environmental respect in the jungle — you’re in the right place.
